When I suggested Marfa as a location for this photoshoot, I wasn’t sure Sara and Brent would agree to drive seven hours to meet me. To my surprise, they were as excited as I was about the idea.
The desert landscape and eclectic art scene felt like the perfect match for their adventurous and creative personalities.
The day of the shoot, I left Austin at night under a sky filled with stars, and by dawn, the landscape began to transform, as if curtains were slowly opening to reveal the vastness of West Texas.
Up until this point, Sara, Brent, and I had only spoken via video call and was thrilled to finally meet them in person.
When I arrived at their Airbnb later that evening, they greeted me warmly. As they finished getting ready, we bonded over music, sips of wine, and occasionally fetching games with their sweetest pup.
They confessed to me they were a little nervous, but as soon as we started to get comfortable around each other, everything started flowing seamlessly.
We wandered around Marfa, exploring each corner with curiosity and imagination, embracing the silliness, the fun, and the creativity.
There was one moment during the shoot when our plan to take the classic Prada Marfa photo didn’t work out. We wouldn’t make it in time before the sun disappeared. Instead, we stopped in the middle of the road, popped a glass of champagne, and watched one of the most magical sunsets.
These photos are some of my favorites because they captured a beautiful moment that happened so unexpectedly, and those spontaneous moments are always the most memorable.
This was more than an engagement photoshoot, it was an adventure itself, one Sara, Brent, and I will never forget.
